I keep a library of tunes on my laptop. For the most part, it’s pretty rare that I don’t We first met Duntov in the sands of Suzuka, both of us struggling with an ugly car on an ugly track. We both laughed and he asked, "What are you doing here?"
"Checking out some real estate," I replied. "You?"
"Looking for the beer stand," was his response. And thus a friendship was born.

Duntov has been a tireless supporter of TPRA race events, helped manage race nights, and been a constant source of support and inspiration to those he races with, not to mention the fact he's one of the funniest and most fun-loving guys in the community. His quick humor and infectious laugh has set off more than one riot on TeamSpeak. That's not to say he doesn't have a serious side, as well. And a generous spirit that goes well beyond his involvement with the online racing community. It is with great pleasure we present this months interview: Duntov3030.

TP: First, thanks for taking the time to do this. Care to give us your real name?
Duntov: Elbert O. Everett III, but I go by "Butch". You can see why.
TP: And where's home?
Duntov: Brunswick, Maine.
TP: How old are you?
Duntov: A young 57.
TP: And what do you do for a living?
Duntov: I'm a retired US Navy Senior Chief Naval Air crewman. Currently working as an energy company Parts Associate.
TP: Married?
Duntov: Yes, happily!
TP: How about other family?
Duntov: Proud father of two sons, ages 28 & 19.
TP: If Maine's home now, where were you born?
Duntov: I was born in Holly Grove, Arkansas, and grew up in Helena, Arkansas.
TP: Tell us a little about that.
Duntov: It was a good place to grow up because it offered small town life yet it was close to Memphis, if we wanted to go see "The King" & party. The area's rich in Civil War history. Five Civil War Generals came from Helena & their fine homes are still maintained & occupied. The "Battle of Helena" was fought the same day that Vicksburg fell to the Union. There's a nice Civil War cemetery there. Hey, it ain't over!
TP: Close to Memphis. That's blues country.
Duntov. The area's also rich in Blues history, being right near Mississippi's famous Hwy 61. Highway 61 was the blues corridor that ran from Chicago down to the Gulf states. All the blues legends, many former sharecropper hands, travelled Rt. 61 & came through Helena. The most famous "blues harp" (harmonica) player, Sonny Boy Williamson, was from Helena. He performed at KFFA radio in Helena. KFFA broadcast in the Arkansas/Mississippi delta area & many artists say they listened to it while in the fields, before they became musicians themselves.
TP: We've heard of KFFA. Isn't that home of the Flower Hour?
Duntov: Sonny Boy was sponsored on KFFA by King Biscuit Flour. That show became "The King Biscuit Flower Hour". KFFA, to this day, still broadcasts the show. It is the longest running blues radio program in the world. Helena also hosts an annual Blues Festival that is quite large now days.
TP: Let's get to the good stuff. What's your Gaming/Racing background?
Duntov: Very limited. I saw my son playing GT4 a couple years ago. Ran a few laps. Took over his PS2, and the rest is history!
TP: How about your real life racing experience?
Duntov: I drag raced in the early years, and I did some kart racing in Europe when I would go there with the Navy.
TP: Any racing heroes?
Duntov: Are you kidding? A.J. Foyt, Mark Donahue, Dan Gurney, Stirling Moss, Jim Clark, Grumpy Jenkins, Don Garlits, Junior Johnson, Smokey Yunick, Carroll Shelby, and others. But the list is getting too long, I think.
TP: How about real life heroes?
Duntov: All the men & women who helped form our nation & have served their country for it's continuance. And Pope John Paul II.
TP: What do you like to do when you're not racing online?
Duntov: Work on my Man Cave & race rig in preparation for the next race. It's a constant work in progress.
TP: How about interests away from racing?
Duntov: I love music, 60's muscle cars, hunting, jogging, and hanging with the family.
TP: What do you like best about GT5P?
Duntov: That's an easy one. Online racing
TP: Least?
Duntov: FTC's! It's frustrating not being able to match properly.
TP: And last, but not least, what are your thoughts about TPRA?
Duntov: I think the racing with the TPRA is: AWESOME!! Tuners Pit has provided some of the best fun I've had since I was a kid, and I love the "characters" involved.

A personal note: Any journalist worth his salt will tell you he has a great novel inside him. This reporter is no exception, and to that end, plans to take an extended leave of absence from this fine publication and work on his. When Moose first approached us to help launch the Newsletter we were extremely flattered. That he's kept the ball rolling is a testament to his, and his staff's dedication to the online racing community. It has been a privilege and an honor. Golfpro, signing out.
