So, we have entered October with a few ups and downs.GT for the PSP is now with us and many have started their garage, while we found out that GT5 would not be out until March 2010 in Japan. So now the rest of us are looking forward to the summer and to the release of GT5 everywhere else. I have seen some new names as people have picked up GT5P to get ready for the full game. So first off,"WELCOME to the GT WORLD!" and second......here is your rookie stripe.
Many of you new drivers may find it very frustrating with the events in the lower levels. With all of the punting and banging that seems to go along with it. Soon you will be looking for some good clean, close racing. And I will try to help you find them.
1) The first thing you must do is to clear enough of the "off line" events to un-lock the "PRO" events online. this is were you will find all of the fast and clean drivers.(don't get me wrong, some bashers are here but they are out numbered by 100 to 1)
2) Check to see what events seem to have the most activity. This way you will have a better chance of matching with other drivers.
3) If you find some good racers, send a friend invite. You could add a note when you do this to explain that you are looking for some good clean drivers to run with.
4) DON'T GET IN OVER YOUR HEAD! When you first get into the pro events, there is NO driver's aids, no rubber band, and the physics are set to "PRO" not standard. Remember that most,(over 90%) of the drivers that you will run into have been running at this level for over a year and they expect that all the drivers at this level will be clean and understand what to do if they bump someone off the track. If you come into a race and then ram your way to the front, you will make some enemies faster than you think. If pushed, the vets can take out a rookie and they wouldn't know what hit them.
The best way to move up to the pro events is to run "off line" events with the settings set to "PRO". You will get use to the changes faster and your mistakes will only be known to you and your dog,cat,girlfriend,boyfriend,etc.......
5) Pick events that you feel comfortable with. Yea I know that the fast cars are very tempting but sometimes the lower PP events will give you better racing.
OK, so now you have been running with the "Big Boys" for a couple months now and no one has a reason to do you harm if they met you on the street. CONGRATULATIONS, you are no longer a rookie. Now you are ready for the next step. Racing in your first TPRA event............(to be continued next month)
